Social Media Automation

10 min read

Overview

Savantly's Social Media hub lets you connect all your social accounts, create and schedule posts, automate content publishing, and use AI to generate platform-optimized content β€” all from one place. Instead of logging in to each platform separately, manage your entire social presence from your Savantly dashboard.

Supported Platforms

Step 1: Connect Your Social Accounts

Before creating or scheduling posts, you need to authorize Savantly to post on your behalf.

  1. Go to Marketing β†’ Social Media in the sidebar.
  2. Click the Connections tab.
  3. Click Connect next to the platform you want to add.
  4. You'll be redirected to the platform's OAuth authorization page.
  5. Grant the requested permissions.
  6. You'll be redirected back to Savantly with your account connected.

Facebook & Instagram

Facebook and Instagram use the same OAuth flow through Meta:

  • For Facebook: Select your Facebook Page (not a personal profile)
  • For Instagram: You must have an Instagram Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page
  • After connecting Facebook, Instagram will appear as an additional option

LinkedIn

  • Connects your LinkedIn Profile (personal) or LinkedIn Company Page (for Business accounts)
  • LinkedIn limits post scheduling to the OAuth token expiry window (~60 days); re-connect when prompted

Twitter / X

  • Sign in with your Twitter/X account credentials
  • Requires a Developer App token (configured by Savantly)

YouTube

  • Connects your YouTube channel via Google OAuth
  • Allows video publishing and playlist management
  • Manage YouTube-specific settings at Social Media β†’ YouTube

Step 2: Create a Social Media Post

  1. Go to Marketing β†’ Social Media.
  2. Click the Posts tab.
  3. Click + Create Post.

Post editor fields:

  • Content β€” Write your post. Each platform has character limits: Twitter (280), LinkedIn (3,000), Facebook (63,206), Instagram (2,200).
  • Media β€” Attach images or videos (recommended for 3–5x higher engagement)
  • Platforms β€” Select one or more connected platforms to publish to
  • Publish option:
  • Post Now β€” Publish immediately
  • Schedule β€” Pick a specific date and time (Pro/Business)
  • Save as Draft β€” Save without publishing
  1. Click Create Post or Schedule Post.

Step 3: Schedule Posts (Pro & Business)

Build a consistent posting calendar:

  1. In the Social Media β†’ Posts view, switch to the Calendar tab.
  2. See all scheduled posts on a visual calendar.
  3. Drag posts to reschedule them.
  4. Click any date to create a new scheduled post for that time slot.

Best practices for scheduling:

  • Post when your audience is most active (typically weekday mornings and early evenings)
  • Use the calendar view to ensure consistent frequency (aim for 3–5 posts per week)
  • Stagger posts across platforms to avoid simultaneous flooding

Step 4: Set Up Social Media Automation (Pro & Business)

Automation rules publish posts automatically based on triggers or schedules, reducing manual effort.

  1. Go to Marketing β†’ Social Media β†’ Automation tab.
  2. Click Create Automation.
  3. Configure:
  • Trigger β€” What starts the automation (e.g., new content published, a recurring schedule)
  • Content source β€” Which of your Savantly content to turn into posts (new blog posts, products, events)
  • Platforms β€” Which social accounts to publish to
  • Posting frequency β€” How often the automation runs
  • Post template β€” The format of the auto-generated post caption
  1. Enable the automation.

Example automations:

AutomationUse case
Auto-share new blog postsEvery time you publish a post, it auto-shares to LinkedIn and Twitter
Daily deal announcementEach morning, post about a product or promotion
Weekly knowledge base digestEvery Monday, share a KB article from your library
Event reminder seriesAuto-post event reminders 7 days, 1 day, and 1 hour before an event

Step 5: Generate Posts with AI

Instead of writing captions from scratch, use the AI Social Content Agent:

Option A: From the Post Editor

  1. In the Create Post editor, click Generate with AI.
  2. Select:
  • The content item to base the post on (product, blog post, service, etc.)
  • Target platform (tone and length adjust per platform)
  • Hashtag style β€” Auto, specific hashtags, or none
  1. Click Generate.
  2. Review and edit the generated caption.
  3. Choose platforms and publish or schedule.

Option B: Social Content Agent (Bulk Generation)

Generate multiple posts at once from your content library:

  1. Go to AI Studio β†’ Social Content Agent (or Social Media β†’ Automation tab).
  2. Select the content items you want to generate posts for.
  3. Select target platforms.
  4. Click Generate All Posts.
  5. Review the queue in Content Review and approve/edit/reject each.
  6. Approve posts go directly to your posting schedule.

Managing Comments

Stay on top of social engagement without leaving Savantly:

  1. Go to Marketing β†’ Social Media β†’ Comments tab.
  2. View and reply to comments from Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn.
  3. Click Sync All Comments to pull the latest comments from published posts.

Auto-reply to comments

You can have Savantly reply automatically to new comments on your Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube posts (not LinkedIn or X).

  1. On the Comments tab, turn on Auto-reply to comments. This is the account default for new posts.
  2. When creating or editing a post, use Auto-reply to comments on this post to opt that post in or out.
  3. Published Facebook / Instagram / YouTube posts also show an Auto-reply chip in the posts list.

Auto-reply only handles comments left after you turn it on. Replies use your business knowledge and are posted as the connected Page or channel. You can still reply manually from the Comments tab.

Post Approval Workflow

For Business teams where posts need sign-off before publishing:

  1. A team member creates a post and marks it as Pending Approval.
  2. The account admin receives a notification to review.
  3. Admin can Approve, Request Changes, or Reject the post.
  4. Approved posts are automatically scheduled or published.

Viewing Post Analytics

Track how your social posts are performing:

  1. Go to Marketing β†’ Social Media β†’ Analytics tab (or Analytics in the sidebar).
  2. See:
  • Reach β€” How many people saw your posts
  • Engagement β€” Likes, comments, shares
  • Clicks β€” Links clicked in posts
  • Best performing posts β€” Ranked by engagement

YouTube Integration

Savantly's YouTube integration goes beyond basic posting:

  1. Navigate to Social Media β†’ YouTube.
  2. Manage:
  • Publish AI-generated videos directly to YouTube
  • Set video titles, descriptions, and tags
  • Organize videos into playlists
  • Schedule video premieres

Disconnecting a Social Account

  1. Go to Marketing β†’ Social Media β†’ Connections.
  2. Find the account you want to remove.
  3. Click Disconnect.
  4. This stops future posts to that account. Existing posts already published are not affected.

Troubleshooting

My post failed to publish

  • Check that your connected account's authorization token hasn't expired (re-connect if needed)
  • Verify the post content meets the platform's character and media limits
  • Check the post's status in the Posts list β€” failed posts show an error message

Instagram posts aren't working

  • Instagram requires a Business or Creator account linked to a Facebook Page
  • Personal Instagram accounts are not supported by Meta's API

Scheduled posts didn't go out

  • The Savantly scheduler service must be running β€” contact support if posts are consistently missed
  • Verify your account timezone is set correctly in Settings β†’ Account
